AUSTRALIAN OPAL SERIES – MASKED OWL 2014 1OZ SILVER PROOF COIN.
The sixth release in the Australian Opal Series features the beautiful Masked Owl, a highly distinctive bird, generally found in the coastal regions of mainland Australia and Tasmania.
The Obverse: portrait of the Queen Elizabeth II designed by Iain Rank-Broadley and in use on all circulation & most commemorative coins since 1998. Inscriptions along the rim - ELIZABETH II, to the right – AUSTRALIA, the down – 1 DOLLAR.
The Reverse: the coin’s reverse incorporates an inner panel design of a Masked Owl sitting in a tree hollow detailed in pure Australian opal. The outer panel of the coin features eucalypt leaves, blossoms, native flowers and a Waning Gibbous moon. The Southern Cross – a renowned star constellation, only visible in the Southern hemisphere, is also depicted.
The top of the gift box is integrated LED light (on the battery), which beautifully illuminates the coin on top, with a good view and opal color image pygmy possum.
