Description: Far out at sea, in the strait between Åland and Sweden, lies the Sälskär lighthouse.

It was lit for the first time in 1868, when the island was inhabited by a lighthouse keeper and lighthouse guards with their families. The lighthouse, one of the most beautiful in the Baltic, illuminated the voyage of seafarers in the hard-tonavigate strait through which people voyage to new adventures or return home.
