This beautiful wombat coin is the second release in the new Australian opal series. Showcasing nocturnal Australian animals created in pure Australian opal, this unique concept is simply dazzling.

This stunning series will feature eight coins in total, with two releases each year.

The Obverse: portrait of the Queen Elizabeth II designed by Iain Rank-Broadley and in use on all circulation & most commemorative coins since 1998. Inscriptions along the rim - ELIZABETH II, to the right – AUSTRALIA, the down – 1 DOLLAR.

The Reverse: the coin’s reverse incorporates an inner panel design of a wombat detailed in pure Australian opal. The outer panel of the coin depicts Bottlebrush leaves and blossoms, a waxing crescent moon and the Southern Cross – a renowned star group which is only visible in the Southern hemisphere.
